UPS Dividend Payout Date: Next Ex-Date, Pay Date & Safety (2026)

UPS Dividend Payout Date

UPS announced its regular quarterly dividend of $1.64 per share on August 5, 2026, payable September 3 to shareowners of record on August 17. That payment is done. The next one should arrive in early December, with a declaration expected in early November.

The dates are the easy part. The harder question is whether a payout that’s covered so thinly can keep going. This guide covers both.

When is the next UPS dividend payout?

Short answer: As of September 23, 2026, UPS hasn’t declared its fourth-quarter dividend. Based on last year’s pattern, expect an announcement in early November, a record date around November 16–17, and payment in the first week of December.

Last year’s pattern is the best guide. In 2025, the Q4 dividend was payable December 4 to shareowners of record on November 17. The announcement itself came on November 6. Third-party trackers line up with this: Dividend.com lists an upcoming ex-dividend date of November 17, 2026, while Market Chameleon projects a window of November 11–18 at $1.64 per share. Treat those as estimates until UPS confirms.

QuarterEx-/record datePayment dateAmountStatus

Q3 2026Aug 17Sep 3$1.64Paid
Q4 2026~Nov 16–17 (estimate)~Dec 3–4 (estimate)$1.64 expectedNot yet declared

The most recent announcement is still the August 5 press release. Nothing newer has been published since.

How the UPS quarterly dividend schedule works

Every UPS payout follows the same three steps:

  1. Declaration. The board approves the dividend and UPS issues a press release. It applies to all outstanding Class A and Class B shares. UPS
  2. Ex-dividend and record date. You must own the stock before the market opens on the ex-date. Since the U.S. moved to T+1 settlement in 2024, the ex-date and record date fall on the same day. That’s why UPS’s August release and data sites both point to August 17.
  3. Payment date. Cash arrives roughly two and a half weeks later.

Buy on or after the ex-date and you miss that quarter’s payment. The share price is generally expected to open lower by about the dividend amount on that day, so buying just for the payout doesn’t create free money.

For tax purposes, qualified dividend treatment generally requires holding the stock for more than 60 days within the 121-day window around the ex-date. Check your own situation with a tax professional.

How much does UPS pay, and what’s the yield?

Short answer: $1.64 per quarter, or $6.56 per year. The yield lands between roughly 6.3% and 6.8%, depending on the day’s share price.

Stock Events shows an annual dividend of $6.56 and a 6.29% yield. A later Koyfin snapshot with the stock near $95.87 put the yield at 6.84%. For context, Simply Wall St pegs the industry average at 3.4%. Koyfin’s percentile data places UPS above roughly 96% of sector peers on yield.

A quick example: 100 shares pay $164 per quarter, or $656 per year, before taxes. UPS also expects about $5.4 billion in total dividend payments for 2026, subject to board approval. UPS

Buybacks have also stopped. UPS spent $1 billion on repurchases in the first half of 2025 and nothing in the first half of 2026. So shareholder yield is now essentially just the dividend yield.

UPS dividend history: growth, then a pause

YearQuarterly dividendAnnualized (×4)
2022$1.52$6.08
2023$1.62$6.48
2024$1.63$6.52
2025$1.64$6.56
2026 (so far)$1.64$6.56

Sources: UPS earnings releases and press releases. The 2023 increase was 6.6%. Annualized figures are my arithmetic. sec

The long-run record is strong. Koyfin calculates annualized dividend-per-share growth of about 8.07% over ten years and 10.07% over five. The recent record is not. The same source shows 1.46% over three years and 0.31% over the last twelve months.

The raises have shrunk to pennies and then stopped. The $1.64 payment has now been frozen for seven straight quarters. CFO Brian Dykes has said publicly that the dividend is frozen in 2026.

You may still see sites advertising a 17-year growth streak. UPS itself uses more careful wording: it has either maintained or increased the dividend every year since going public in 1999. That is a real record, but “maintained” is not the same as “grown.” Investing.com

Is the UPS dividend safe?

Short answer: A cut isn’t the base case, but coverage is thin and a raise looks unlikely soon. I found no company guidance signaling a cut.

  • Management intent is firm. Dykes has said the company recognizes the dividend matters to its shareholder base, which includes many former employees, and will protect it. UPS calls its commitment to the dividend a core principle. Daily Trade AlertUPS
  • Earnings coverage depends on which earnings you use. The $6.56 payout is about 91% of UPS’s roughly $7.22 adjusted EPS guidance. On a trailing GAAP basis it’s above 100%: Simply Wall St shows a 122% earnings payout ratio and 102% on cash flow. Second-quarter GAAP EPS was $0.71 versus $1.76 adjusted, held down by $891 million in after-tax transformation charges. Prediction: UPS Dividend Remains Frozen Through 2027 | The Motley Fool +2
  • Cash is the real pressure point. In 2025, UPS paid $5.398 billion in dividends against $4.765 billion of free cash flow. In the first half of 2026, free cash flow was about $1.6 billion against $2.7 billion in dividends, and the gap was covered from the balance sheet. Full-year free cash flow guidance has been quoted anywhere from $5.5 billion to $6.5 billion. Coverage is slim either way. A Dramatic Fed Pivot Just Unlocked a New Era of Growth for UPS – 24/7 Wall St. +3
  • Borrowing is rising. UPS sold $1 billion of five-year notes on August 10 and another $325 million of floating-rate notes on August 14. The Motley Fool
  • There are tailwinds. The Amazon glide-down is complete, full-year guidance was raised, and UPS expects about $3 billion of savings from its efficiency programs in 2026.

My read is that the second half of 2026 matters most. If free cash flow catches up with the $2.7 billion first-half dividend outlay, the payout looks sustainable. If it doesn’t, expect more debt before any change to the dividend. Watch the Q3 cash flow figures and the November declaration.

Can UPS fit into monthly dividend investments?

UPS pays on a March, June, September and December cycle, so it can’t deliver monthly income alone. Some investors stagger payers across the three quarterly cycles. Others mix in true monthly payers such as Realty Income. In either case, UPS covers one slice of the calendar.

Chasing yield across the board can backfire. UPS’s yield is high partly because the share price has fallen. This is general information, not personalized financial advice.

A quick checklist before the next payout

  1. Watch for the UPS press release, which typically arrives in early November.
  2. Buy before the ex-date if you want that payment.
  3. Track the holding period if qualified tax treatment matters to you.
  4. Read Q3 free cash flow and any commentary on the dividend.
